Israel's Hope

Is there a God? | Who am I? | What is the purpose of life?
Why is the world the way it is? | Is Jesus the Messiah? | Is this all there is?

The Bible

The foundation of a proper study of God, man and the universe is the Bible, not man and his ideas. Man has tried to make a god in his image but the true God made man in His image and made man accountable to Him. God chose to reveal Himself to us in the Scriptures. That was God's choice and we have no other choice but to accept God's manner of revelation. (Genesis 1:26, 2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:20-2 1).

The biblical worldview presents God as eternal, omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent. God is the creator and He is personal and triune. God is transcendent ( above us and distinct from us) and immanent ( involved in our experiences ). God has revealed Himself to us in general revelation (the created order), special revelation (the Bible) and in His Son Jesus Christ. "God is holy and just and He always acts in terms of His holiness and justness." (Psalm 90:2; Job 42:2; Jeremiah 23:23-25; Psalm 139:7-10; Acts 17:27; Leviticus 11:44; Daniel 9:14; Deuteronomy 32:3-4)

God created the universe and everything in it according to His holiness and justice and He termed it "very good." God set one boundary on His highest creation, man and woman, and prescribed a penalty if He was disobeyed. Adam and Eve disobeyed God and not only humans but all of the created order have been affected by that Fall. Because of the Fall man became alienated from God, from nature, from other humans and from himself (Genesis 1-3).

But God did not leave us in this state. God made provision for our redemption by becoming man and dying on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. The Bible tells us why the world is in a mess and also offers us a solution to the problem. Where else can we find answers like this? Nowhere. Man can be restored to God through the work Jesus Christ has done on the cross. (John 1:1, 14:3-16; Romans 3:21-26).

The Bible answers all of life's important questions and answers them definitively and authoritatively. Won't you take some time to investigate its claims?
